Sarah is a knowledgeable, patient and flexible harp teacher with over 20 years experience. Prior to moving to the US Sarah taught harp at Radley College, St Edwards Oxford, Oxford High School, Magdalen College School, Christ Church Cathedral School, Wycombe Abbey and for the Buckinghamshire Music Service. In San Francisco she built a thriving private studio and set up harp departments at Scherzo Music School in San Mateo and at New Village School in Sausalito where she continues to teach remotely from her new home in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Her lessons are specifically tailored to suit individual levels, tastes and goals. Sarah is a patient and flexible teacher and welcomes students of all ages and levels of development. Lessons are thoughtfully planned and usually include elements of improvisation, arranging, theory and ensemble playing alongside solo work to develop general musicianship as well as solid technique. Sarah's students can choose to take graded harp exams or simply play for pleasure. Remote lessons online via Skype / FaceTime / Zoom etc are available.
Sarah enjoys gathering students together for group sessions and is in demand as a workshop lead, course tutor and adjudicator. As a passionate supporter of young harpists she recently chaired the Yvonne La Mothe Schwager Competition for Young Harpists 2019 for the Bay Area Chapter of the American Harp Society.
